Do you remember you last shoe buying experience?
What did you do with the box and the packaging your shoes came in?
Did you by chance throw it away?
Yves Behar from Fuse Project, helped Puma develop a more sustainable packaging called the “Clever Little Bag”. The “Clever Little Bag” is a re-usable shoe bag that protects shoes from the factory until the consumer takes it home.
It is anticipated that this kind of sustainable design approach would use 65% less paper, reduce energy use for production by 60% and reduce the overall carbon emissions by 10,000 tons per year. Plus, this design eliminates the need for a plastic bag to carry the product home from the store.
Puma has been at the forefront of sustainable design for years and proves that simple elegant design solutions can go a long way to make the world a better place.
There is no question in our mind that this design solution, in addition to generating a lot of public relations opportunities, will yield a lower packaging cost. We are curious to see if this cost saving will be passed onto the consumer at the end of the day.
